Rules and Regulation
Program Requirements

Each participant is required to be present and active during all scheduled discussions, workshops, lectures, site visits, volunteer service, and action planning. The program will offer a rich learning experience and you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with many Americans.

Most of your days will be very busy. You will need to plan your time well so that you will be present for all programmed activities. Please note: While in your free time you are welcome to explore the city of Philadelphia, you will not be permitted to travel independently outside of the Philadelphia area.

Smoking

At the university there is NO smoking inside any campus building, including dormitory rooms. This rule is very strictly enforced. You must be at least 25 feet from any building while smoking. These rules apply to most public buildings in Pennsylvania, including restaurants, hotels, etc. There is also no smoking in any University-owned vehicles, including buses.

Drug and Alcohol Use

Temple University strictly prohibits the unlawful possession, use, consumption, distribution or manufacture of drugs and alcohol on University property, or as part of any University activity. State and federal laws prohibit any possession or use of recreational drugs, as well as the public sale to, or consumption of, alcohol by anyone under the age of 21.

Housing

Students are required to stay in the housing provided by the program sponsors throughout the duration of the Institute.
