Two distinct groups of local “partners” will be available for in-depth engagement with Seminar participants.

A group of 8-10 undergraduate students from Temple (and other area universities) of diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds will be selected from among such campus groups as the Muslim Student Association, Hillel, Rumi Student Association, and the Religion Club. This group will serve as an ongoing peer community for the international participants. They will take part in two specific evening activities with the SUSI group, will be available for further conversation and social interaction, and will form a network of relationship and support throughout the residential program.

During the second weekend of the residential program, students will spend Saturday-Sunday in the homes of local host families of diverse backgrounds. This will enable students to experience daily life in an American household, as well as fostering friendships that can continue throughout the program and beyond.
